How to write a program to analyze digital audio.?

I want to write a program to analyze digital audio files, to look for unique sounds, save them.

I also want to compare those sounds and look for duplicates.

I’m learning to program in C.

Any suggestions?

Forget C and use LabView. You might have to buy the software, but it is defenitely worth it.
