Hard Case VS. Silicone Case for iTouch 3rd gen. 64 gig. Pros and Cons?

I just got an iTouch and really want to make sure to take good care of it so I’m getting a Screen Protector and a case. The thing is with the case which is better?

I know that sometimes silicone cases don’t fit as well as they claim but sometimes some hard cases are REALLY bulky. I’m getting the case off of ebay because I really can’t afford to spend a lot on it. So these are the types (not necessarily the exact) of cases I’m looking at:

So for anyone who has tried these cases what do you think? Which do you think is best and why?

hard case. pros. protects it more
cons. can break after drop, scratches and maybe even ur pod, for a cheap one break easier.(when i say easier i mean in less time)
Silicone:pros:lasts long and dosent scratch cases. has around the sam impact absorbation as hard
Cons:still dont protect as well as hard (close though) but last longer. silicone might strecth so it dosent fit ur itouch anymore(happened to me twice)
