Can I uninstall flash player and still visit websites that require it?

I really hate those animation and embedded videos on web pages.I know they work with flash player.So if I uninstall flash player wil I lose just the annoying advertisement or the whole page?Will the website force me to get flash player or I can view the non flash player content of the page?

You can get an ad block addon if you use Firefox and it is pretty cool.
