Can headphones, portable cd player, and extra batteries be brought onto an airplane?

My husband is going on a flight on Wednesday. It is within the US and a usair flight. He is wondering if he can bring his headphones, extra batteries, and his portable cd player with him on board? He is very nervous about flying and these things help him to stay calm.

it should be no problems taking this stuff on the plane. security may and I repeat may not like the spare batteries but it will be up to them and if they feel like being Nazis that day.

I’ve taken my laptop, mp3 players, ham radio, cell phone, psp, digital cameras heck even film cameras on the plane and spare batteries without security giving me a second look and I travel like a bum when I don’t have to meet clients on a travel day. If you need spare batteries at your destination put them in the checked luggage
