I bought small speakers for my Ipod Shuffle, if I switch between it & the earbugs Shuffle goes blank. Why?

I bought the speakers at Radio Shack for $20. I haven’t found a similar Ipod product yet. I prefer the speakers as I am somewhat uncomfortable with the earbugs. I am concerned about ongoing usage of headphones causing hearing loss.

you should turn off the player before you take it out of the speakers. it’s a safety feature to not cause damage to the ipod
